Italian Class in Singapore: A Luxurious Apartment with Molteni&C

This stunning apartment in the heart of Singapore was designed by Chantal Vermeulen-Koster and fully furnished with pieces from the Italian brand Molteni&C. The client was immediately captivated by the stylish, light-filled interior of the Molteni&C Flagship Store showroom and wanted to translate this atmosphere into their own home. Chantal was tasked with creating a harmonious and luxurious interior where the elegance of Italian design takes center stage, featuring a refined combination of materials such as marble, wood, and warm fabrics.

The interior is sleek and minimalist, yet warm and inviting. Large windows allow for an abundance of natural light, which was optimally utilized in the design. By incorporating light colors and soft textures, the apartment feels open and airy, while carefully selected fabrics, such as curtains and upholstery, create a cozy and intimate atmosphere. Chantal adapted the lighting plan to account for the difference between Singapore’s warmer, natural light and the cooler daylight she is accustomed to in the Netherlands. The result is a subtle, warm lighting scheme that enhances each space without feeling cold.

The use of the collection of Molteni&C throughout the apartment creates a cohesive whole, while the various design styles within the brand add an interesting diversity of shapes and finishes. The living room exudes timeless sophistication with its blend of marble and wood, featuring the Octave sofa and the Louisa coffee table as central elements. The Hi-Line 6 kitchen and the custom Gliss Master wardrobes follow the same elegant style. This seamless integration of Molteni&C materials enhances the home’s luxurious feel. The master bedroom has the allure of a luxury hotel suite, complete with a king-size bed, a beautifully upholstered headboard, and a custom walk-in closet tailored to the client’s needs.

Through smart spatial planning and clever use of pieces like the Hector bookcase, which also serves as a room divider, Chantal has created intimate corners even within the apartment’s generous spaces. In the TV room, the Marteen sofa adds a comfortable touch, while the 505 Up System TV cabinet blends effortlessly into the design. One of the most striking features is the seamless transition from one side of the apartment to the other, offering stunning sightlines and enhancing the sense of space. Attention to detail is evident everywhere—from the carefully selected fabrics and finishes to the custom-made furniture that integrates seamlessly into the design.

This project is a perfect example of how Italian design can be applied to a modern urban apartment, where functionality and aesthetics go hand in hand. The result is a luxurious, warm, and inviting home in which the client feels completely at ease.
